Introducing a Dutch East India Company Captains Desk.

This magnificent captain's table from the early 18th century is an exceptional piece blending Anglo-Indonesian craftsmanship. It features carved rosewood and walnut, with the Dutch East India Company (VOC) insignia intricately carved on both the front and rear of the waist. The tabletop has an inset panel made of burr walnut. Adorned with fine bone inlay for a touch of elegance and sophistication.

The table is supported by four barley twist legs, a popular design element during the period, adding a sense of movement and intricacy. The legs terminate in classic bun feet, providing stability and a traditional look. This piece also includes a later-added rosewood stretcher, likely from around 1830, connecting the legs for additional support.

Representing a unique blend of European and Indonesian influences during the era of the Dutch East India Company.  A dominant trading entity. The table's historic and cultural significance, combined with its craftsmanship, makes it a valuable addition to any collection.
