A flame Mahogany, Movingue and Rosewood banded chest of drawers.

The rectangular top with canted corners, the two short drawers with lapette carved recessed moulding. Paper twists and rosette carved moulding below with two further long drawers, all with fine brass handles and on panelled tapering legs.

Inspired by the fine furniture of Edwards & Roberts, of which it is known the Spencer family bought several pieces of furniture. The firm becoming one of the leading London cabinet makers and retailers of antique furniture in the 19th century. Particularly famous for finely decorated late Georgian furniture. The design symbolism of this piece, inspired by a writing design in the South Drawing Room.
