A Pair of Baroque Giltwood and Gesso Wall Mirrors. C.1700 and later. This exquisite piece of history will elevate any home.
The mirrors each consist of a rectangular plate, the frame decorated with ‘C’ scrolls, flowers and winged cherubs. The pedimented surmount has billowing clouds. This pair of Baroque Giltwood and Gesso Wall Mirrors share an affinity with mirrors produced in Germany and Holland in the early 18th century. See Graham Child, World Mirrors 1650-1900. A mirror in the manner of Friedrich Unteutsch and a Dutch overmantel with similar cherub decoration.
