An original oil painting on canvas depicting a Victorian lady enjoying the Lake District by crossing the stepping stones at Ambleside in 1888. This is an original work of art based on a black and white photograph of the time. Ambleside is a town in Cumbria, in North West England. Historically in Westmorland, it marks the head of Windermere, England's largest natural lake. It's surroundings inspired romantic poets such as Wordsworth, Shelley and Keats.
The painting has been treated with ageing varnish to mellow the paint colours, then stretched and mounted in a hand-made 3" frame.
