Thomas Hope Style Mahogany Gilded Breakfront Sideboard

An exclusively designed mahogany breakfront sideboard, inspired by an early 19th-century Thomas Hope pedestal desk.

The piece is crafted in carefully selected flame mahogany veneers, which lend a rich depth and warmth to the exterior. The top is cross-banded in flame mahogany, showcasing its distinctive grain, and finished with a finely carved edge that adds an element of sophistication. The drawers and cupboard doors are framed with an ebonised perimeter, enhancing the contrast with the rich mahogany, and are completed with floral brass knobs that add a subtle touch of refinement.

Inside, the drawers are baize-lined to protect delicate items, while each cupboard features an adjustable shelf, offering three height fixtures for flexible storage. The front corners of the cabinet are rounded and adorned with an elegant ebonised linear design, further elevating the piece’s visual appeal. This version also incorporates gilding to the carved top edge and plinth, adding a cohesive and ornate finish to the overall design. 

Inspired by Thomas Hope, a renowned furniture designer, who drew inspiration from his extensive Grand Tour travels through Europe, Greece, Turkey, and Egypt. His passion for antiquities shaped his approach to Regency furniture, contributing to the classic revival of English design in the early 1800s.
