An early 19th century style painted and water gilded torchere specially commissioned and inspired from a original Thomas Hope design. The inse round top in black marble with grey veining is surrounded with intricate carving. A finely carved central column is surrounded by four supports terminating ai loin paw feet, on a plinth base which stands on four block feet.
The piece was transported in its raw solid mahogany state to our Devon workshops where it was gesso, sanded, painted and water gilded in 23.5 carat gold leaf.
